South Padre Island, reconocida como uno de los mejores lugares de pesca del país, iniciará la temporada de pesca con la 25ª edición del Torneo Shallow Sport & SCB Owners, que se celebrará los días 9 y 10 de mayo en las hermosas aguas de la Laguna Madre Bay.

Lo que comenzó como un pequeño evento con un puñado de guías locales ha crecido hasta convertirse en uno de los mayores torneos de pesca en agua salada del país, atrayendo a cientos de competidores de todo el país.

Las festividades comienzan el viernes 9 de mayo con una búsqueda del tesoro durante todo el día en varios lugares de South Padre Island.

El sábado 10 de mayo, el registro de embarcaciones comenzará a las 5:30 de la mañana y la salida oficial será a las 6:30 en punto. El pesaje de la captura del día comenzará a la 1:00 PM en Louie’s Backyard, y luego el banquete de premios comienza a las 7:00 PM en el Centro de Convenciones de South Padre Island.

Una característica especialmente emocionante de este torneo es una rifa, que premiará a un afortunado comprador de entradas con un 2025 Shallow Sport 22 ‘Sport barco, un motor Suzuki 200hp, y un remolque McClain.

South Padre Island Celebrates Silver Anniversary of Shallow Sport & SCB Owners Fishing Tournament

South Padre Island, recognized as one of the country’s best fishing hotspots, will kick off the fishing season with the 25th edition of the Shallow Sport & SCB Owners Tournament, being held May 9th and 10th on the beautiful waters of the Laguna Madre Bay. What started as a small event with a handful of local guides has grown into one of the nation’s largest saltwater fishing tournaments, drawing hundreds of competitors from across the country.

“Fishing is one of the big draws for visitors to South Padre Island, and over the past 25 years, the Shallow Sport Owners has become one of the premier fishing tournaments in the country,” said Blake Henry, Visit South Padre Island Executive Director. “With opportunities for everyone from youth to professional level to compete, this 25th anniversary tournament will be the best yet.”

Festivities start Friday, May 9th, with a daylong scavenger hunt at various locations on South Padre Island. On Saturday, May 10th, with boat check-in at 5:30 AM, the official start is at 6:30 AM sharp. Weigh-in for the day’s catch will begin at 1:00 PM at Louie’s Backyard, and then the awards banquet begins at 7:00 PM at the South Padre Island Convention Center.

An especially exciting feature of this tournament is a raffle, which will award one lucky ticket buyer with a 2025 Shallow Sport 22’ Sport boat, a Suzuki 200hp motor, and a McClain trailer.
